Luck Egalitarianism and COVID-19: The Case for Compensating Children for School Closures

The Covid-19 pandemic resulted in school closures around the world, leaving lasting negative impacts on many children. Given that such are justified public health measures, this raises question of compensating children for closures. In article I address compensation from perspective a popular theory justice: luck egalitarianism. doing so, examine problem with applying egalitarianism to children, called agency assumption. then argue assumption results dilemma and suggest how can be overcome. resulting form reveals something interesting about closures: requires us all bases justice-relevant inequality among children—Covid-19-related beyond.
